Today in Pakistan, President Musharraf imposed emergency rule and suspended the constitution.
Although I don’t agree with suspending a constitution because of a national emergency, I realize many people think this is acceptable. The part I don’t get is this:
“Troops have been deployed inside state-run TV and radio stations, while independent channels have gone off air.”
What kind of emergency required shutting down radio and TV (or posting troops to protect your message)?
All this does is show how much “democracy” in Pakistan is only a sham. The only reason to control the media is because a leader has lost public support and the government is falling apart.
Musharraf should step down from power, not destroy the government/constitution.
