Biofuels cause higher beer prices

Okay. That’s it. Now I am getting annoyed…

Apparently, farmers can make more money growing biofuel plants than they make growing barley. Now German farmers are switching crops to the detriment of the beer manufacturers. Thus beer prices are going up.

This makes absolutely no economic sense! I have seen these German farmers at the beer tents during October Fest (and the rest of the year too). Those dudes put down liters of beer like a Chevy Tahoe burns gas. So when the beer prices go up it has to cut into their personal expenses. Balance that with the extra money they make from subsidized biofuels and I bet they are still losing Euros!

So come on guys. If not for the rest of us, do it for yourselves. Grow barley so we can all enjoy cheep beer! You don’t see the French giving up grapes for gas do ya?

Perhaps if beer was cheaper more people would stay home and drink thereby alleviating our need for biofuels.
