Guns, teachers, and one crazy grade school.

Time to talk about some current events. In a Tennesse elemetary shool of 800 students, a group of teachers thought it would be a good idea to pretend they were in Virginia Tech. Prepare those kids for the 1 in a million chance that this will happen to them. Seem unlikely? Below is taken straigt from

Teachers stage fake gunman attack on sixth-graders.
MURFREESBORO, Tennessee (AP) — Staff members of an elementary school staged a fictitious gun attack on students during a class trip, telling them it was not a drill as the children cried and hid under tables.
The mock attack Thursday night was intended as a learning experience and lasted five minutes during the weeklong trip to a state park, said Scales Elementary School Assistant Principal Don Bartch, who led the trip.

One sixth grader described the event: “I was like, ‘Oh My God,’ ” she said. “At first I thought I was going to die. We flipped out.”

I have to point out the shear insanity of the teachers in this school. Clearly, they went too far with this stunt. I am sure it would have served their careers to have talked to parents first and received permission. But I am most astonished by their assumption that none of their students were armed. According to one statistic I found, 135,000 children carry guns to school each day. A single child with a hidden pistol would have given this story a very different slant. We might have even had a personal snicker in a few years when we saw those teachers in the “darwin awards”. But instead, these dare-devils got off with only a collection of angry parents and some word-lashing bloggers.

Nice going guys. Maybe next time you could do a drill with paintball guns and get a kid to crap his pants.

  3. the most amazing part to me is the quote by the child. are they so unimpressed by the prospect of being violently killed that the best comment is “like, we flipped out.”? absolutely pathetic. Next up let’s play bomb scare drill at disneyland, disneyworld, and the mall of america at the same time! would someone please give me a reason to like the people in this country again?
